Thanksgiving Boat Trip - Day 5 (Dunedin Day 2)

Panoramic View - Marina on Left - Clearwater in the Center - Caladesi to the Right

Perfect, yes a beautiful morning. On most days you just can’t beat living in Florida, especially fall & winter. November always seems to be the last best chance for longer range boat trips. The fronts start coming in about every 7 days or so, starting out weak & getting stronger as the winter comes on. This entire week has been great & it looks like the weather will hold through Saturday which is our planned departure for home and the portion of the trip that we need calm seas. Fingers crossed.

Well, it’s Thanksgiving Day & based on where we are, what we are doing and who we are with, we are grateful to God for allowing us to be here. That cannot be overlooked despite screwy elections, COVID-19 and who knows what lurking around the corner in this information overloaded world.

Weaver Park Pier

We started the day with a walk down Victoria St to Weaver Park then back down the bike trail to the city. Not much except a couple ice cream shops were open and the girls got Acai bowls to take back to the boat & munch on. It was a pretty relaxing day with a lot of folks at the marina park. A huge Manatee came swimming up to the boat and just stayed there rolling, playing & scratching herself on the side of the boat. It never gets old no matter how many times I see them, & in Crystal River we see them frequently.

On past Thanksgiving trips we have had everything from steaks to hotdogs. Today it will be Turkey breast on the grill, salad, stuffing, green beans, rolls & the perennial favorite gelled cranberry sauce from the can. The galley works great except one of the propane burner knobs locked up and we couldn’t control the burner. There are 2 burners so no biggie just another boat repair item. I swear that if stuff on a boat doesn’t break, you aren’t using your boat.

Ready to Dig In

It was a great lazy Turkey day with locals getting on there boats for celebrating or taking rides in the Intercoastal & us getting to be part of it all. We were treated to another amazing sunset. By 9pm we were wiped out. How can you get so tired doing nothing? 🤔 Might be time for some exercise.

We are truly thankful
